An incredible use of the combination of Moyers, Soros, and others who
have weaved an incredible web of networks all aimed at changing the
world. Why do we need this kind of propaganda if the ideas are so
important and sound? We never hear the solid proposals for 'Change'in
all the propaganda. Instead, we get the 'front' men who spend the
money from powerful people.

I suppose we should just trust them to have our best interests at
heart.

Want to bet a hundred bucks this group and others all share into the
same email lists and such with Obama and the new Dem party.

I don't follow platitudes or emotional appeals but instead want to
know where they really want me to stand!

Perhaps you don't get what it is about at all.

There are two levels Ev. On the surface, it is one of the most
beautiful creations of dance, expression, music, and such I've seen.
Very creative and warming.

But, it is also politics of the subtle sort. Like early Christians
coming with bible selling sermons to those who could see they were
outmatched in every category, there was a real purpose that was
there.

You might do a little research to see the intersection on people and
this group. It was not cheap to fly around world doing this artwork
nor easy to get onto the right programs to push the final product.

Nothing appears on Moyers if it doesn't fit a general theme.

Perhaps it is just meant to be enjoyed at face value.

You really do believe that I suppose.

Certainly couldn't hurt to look at it that way, could it?

No. It could not hurt anything. I went and listened to the several
interviews about their work and it is wonderful art. The guy making
it seems very sincere and I expect he is. But, it is still politics
of change and I really would want to know where I am supposed to be in
this world of contrived change. Wouldn't you?

That's a desire for control, Jim.

Everything is changing all the time and we have no control over it. People are born, people die, disasters occur, we get old, sick, die and whatever, none of it do we have any real control over. Control is an illusion. The book of Job in the bible is a lesson in change and control from ancient times.

Learning to deal with change, to ride with it without fighting it, is part of what buddhism is all about. But of course your comments above are not about philosophical change, which is the very nature of our existence...... but in reaction to a political buzzword, one that Obama used in his campaign. Of course you will take a knee jerk opposing stance and look for ways to shoot the whole idea down. Even in a nice musical piece.

I say this honestly. You are too caught up in that whole adversarial thing. Even in threads which are not political, where people of (otherwise) opposing views seem to be getting along, you will come along and interject some dig, in order to bring the adversarial thing back into play again. Why? Because you know that game so well. You know good guys and bad guys and us against them. You know that if they start to get along, the lines aren't drawn clearly enough in the sand. Allegiances blur. The control is gone.

Charlie made a boo-boo again. Probably posting while under the influence. What did you do? Jumped into it and made it out that we are all bad people for not agreeing with Charlie, and making it all too clear how important it is to you for the allegiances and sides to be kept apart. Fortunately Charlie usually regrets his outbursts in the morning, but your machinations never quit.

Take Olly for instance. Olly could handle herself, and did for a long time. We all liked her and even those who had differences were able to manage. Till you got in the act. Accused people of "driving" her off. Jumping in the middle of every little interaction. I know I am just batting my keyboard here. You won't consider this for a single moment.

There will never be civilized discussion about retirement in this group as long as you run wild with this agenda in every interaction here, and continue to encourage polarization.

Change is the very nature of our existence. Sometimes it is change for good and sometimes for bad. WE are what makes it good or bad. I am in this world for good, and that is my personal agenda. Maybe you need to decide what you are here for, and how change will work with you and how you will work with it. It could be a long 4 (or eight) years ahead for you. You could either enjoy them or continue to run your agendas.

It seems like the only people who are genuinely fearing the new world
are the really old dudes.
Stuck in their dream of America in fifties, with less carbon dioxide in
the air, the polar ice not melting, and us not owing our futures to China.
Those of us who look forward to the adventure will fare much better.

Of course you have hit it right on. It is fear. Loss of control equals fear. Loss of money in the stock market, loss of the election, loss of their pals being in government, loss of the security they thought they had. What is their world coming to? We dare to hope and to try to find the positive. Life is what you make it. It is a choice. Obama called it by the right word..... the AUDACITY of hope. You have to be a little audacious to deal in a world of such uncertainty. I plan to at least try to find that courage. It is a thing I choose to do. Consciously and in full understanding that we control very little but our own attitude.
