Re: "Plea for knowledge"


Alan - you have probably read my response and thank you, which I posted
to Jeff. Well, the same goes to you; I am overwhelmed by the detail of
information you submitted - just as Jeff did - and do not really know
quite how to thank you. I truly did not mean for either of you to put
in such an effort - an enormous effort, in time and typing,etc.etc. -
just to respond to my plea!!! I do want to thank you ever so much, as I
did Jeff; it is truly appreciated. I will now have to study the
difference between your theory and that of Jeff - and wonder who is
right??!! But I won't be able to do that until I have thoroughly
digested all the information from both of you. I will perhaps never
know whether you or Jeff are correct as to the actual cause(s) of the
current crisis - but then,there are few in the country, and the top
experts, are also arguing among themselves, so apparently there is the
possibility that one or the other assumptions and theories might be
mistaken, regarding the current crisis. - I was merely eager to get a
bit more knowledge as to the "possible" causes of the current dilemma -
- and, in this, both you and Jeff have helped me enormously. I will
study both posts - for weeks - and try to understand them!!!! I am
woefully ignorant when it comes to economics. My fields of work and
interest were in other areas - such as mental health and music.
Both your post and Jeff's - regardless of the question of who is right
or not - are models of information and carefully researched and built up
from the beginning of this current crisis to where we are now - - -
nowhere, it seems - alas.
= = Even though you and Jeff apparently differ as to some of the causes
of the current dilemma, nevertheless, both of you are amazingly well
informed in this area, it is very impressive, and I wish I were, also,
since it would help me a bit to comprehend the abysmal turn of events
which are going on now - but not only in our own country - but it seems
world-wide. Very different from how it used to be. These days, when
the U.S. sneezes, the rest of the big countgries get a sore throat, it
seems. A very different world.
= = As I wrote to Jeff,I do feel some guilt, since I had had no
intention to cause either of you to type such an enormous
post,requiring so much time, effort and thinking. I am sorry you needed
to do that, just to clear up this old, old head of mine. but , since
you both did, I want to thank you again so very much; it is appreciated
more than I can say.
I wish I could , in turn, offer some of my "trade' - mental health - but
neither one of you seem to be in need of such!!
= = Again, Alan , my thanks to you for all your effort. In another
week, Yom Kippur - the jewish holiday - will be"upon" us, and I will
have to pray for forgiveness to have caused both you and Jeff such
enormous efforts. but, both of you may just get enormous credit - in the
hereafter - for having contributed, with your kind efforts, to the
frazzled brain of a 91-year old, who,at this point in her life wants to
learn about economics...:-)
