If one considers seasonal trends, we have a couple more weeks until
the summer doldrums hit that traditionally go into early winter. Wish
I could post charts here but not sure how.
If you are an investor, go to http://www.seasonal-charts.com/ and look
at the DJIA, NASDAQ, S&P, DAX and such. We should have some great
days for rest of this month but beginning with June it gets damn ugly.
I do pay some attention to these trends and have profited from adding
this consideration to my thinking. If I have anything in tax deferred
accounts that have done well into Spring, may reduce position. I will
be selling some international stocks with goal to get below 50% in
stocks by June 5th or so.
NEver got a comment on this one.
I have a somewhat wealthy lady friend who predicted this whole thing 4 years ago and more. She sold every stock she owned, invested in foreign currencies and made a killing. This is a woman who reads every financial paper and keeps her ear to the ground regarding anything connected to the market and investments. She said that all the financial experts she read, said this was coming. She advised everyone she knew to get OUT of any and all American stocks and currency asap. Again this was over 4 years ago.
Yesterday morning our other friends who came to visit sold ALL their stocks, losing quite a bit in the process. They want their retirement to be safer. We haven't sold ours because we have very little left in stocks for several years now, having taken the advice of the other friend I mentioned. Hubby stubbornly refused to sell that last bit because he believed it would one day rally, but it came back only a very little. I haven't dared to look what it is worth these days. Probably not much.
