First of all I don't have a lot of faith in polls that predict how
people will vote three months from now. But I was struck by one poll
I saw this morning.

The polls at realclearpolitics.com indicate that McCain is winning
in Mississippi by 13%. That is not good news for Obama. In a
state that is 38% black -- this would indicate that no more than 20%
of white people are for Obama. Extrapolate that nationwide and I
foresee a McCain victory.

I find this troubling -- and wonder what caused this change ?

Troubling that McCain may win Mississippi? He probably will win
it. Obama can't win every state. I think it highly unlikely
he will win there but as this article from a Mississippi newspaper
says, it will depend on those who are disenchanted with McCain
stay home on election day:

That's the way it's going to be all over. That's why I advise McCain
to keep his mouth shut and to keep out of sight until Nov 6. The
less people see of him the more positive his image becomes.

And how receptive is he to the advice he gets from his favorite guru from
soc.retirement? Enquiring minds want to know.
