OK let's put an end to this myth right now. The Republican echo chamber
has been repeating this story ever since George Will mentioned it last
month. He has since retracted the statement.

Ah, good, glad you posted that. It takes a lot of
attention to keep up with the unremitting barrage
of misinformation coming from all directions.

Nowadays if I just hear "the Bush administration"
or "Republican", I just assume that whatever follows
will have no more than chance relationship to truth.
Unfortunately neither of those clues was given in
the original message. The piece just said "there
are new reports out..." - they're learning not to give
away the game away by saying who they are!
I guess I'll have to pay stronger attention to the
"unnamed source" setup as yet another warning
flag.
