I use to have Rita's but I've misplaced it. I have a web site
myself but have not updated in over a year. They are fun but they
get to be a lot of work if updated regularly.
I just happened to think --- California is well represented in this
group. You, El Castor, Sordo, Rumple and now Rita. The way I cou nt
it -- three conservatives and two liberals :-)
I deny that Sordo lives in California. His housing plot,
wherever it is, is part of KKKLand mysteriously
transported and treacherously folded in to California.
Don't think California is a stranger to the KKK. Actually history
tells us that it was very much loved and accepted in CA. Especially
Rita's home of San Diego.
San Diego's about as far away from me as Washington
D.C. is from you, but while there must be some KKK'ers
and Nazis in San Francisco, I haven't seen any, or heard
of any spouting off like Sordo.
Anyhow, we Northern Californians all know that
Southern California is populated mostly by people from
the MidWest, and Indianapolis is the old capital of the
KKK if I recall aright.
Hey, San Diego is NOT Orange County where Sordo lives.
You owe San Diego an apology:) The city does not have the
extremists on the right that Orange County is known for. I
would not be comfortable here if it did.
Ah, OK. Apology given. The only two San Diegans
I know are you who live there now, and a friend who
was born there but now lives in Kentucky. You're
certainly OK, and my now-Kentucky friend is a
Libertarian which is a bit suspect but I guess not as
bad as being an outright Republican, if only for the
same reason that Muggletonianism is superior to
Catholicism, i.e. because it has fewer members. And
KKKism is ancient history now, KKKers used to be
mainstream in the time of "Birth of a Nation", but
now they're just nutcases of the unpleasant but
fortunately rare kind, like Nazis.
It may be in San Diego's history, but today there is no
animus against Mexicans I can tell. They work in our
restaurant and hotel industries which could not exist
without them -- and people are quite happy to have it
that way.
And don't knock Midwesterners either. You may recall
Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska all voted for Obama in the
primaries. Racists wouldn't do that.
Not only that, you did say you lived in one of those
Midwestern places, and so did Willa Cather, so they're
not a total loss. I get a bit carried away with Gary,
and he with me. It's what we do. But apologies are
appropriate, so I hereby make them. I am of course,
a poor sinner, and sure to stray again from the path
of righteousness, though.
