Re: Hillary: Tactical; Not Practical.

Islander - you must be joking when you seriously refer to my comparing
Obama's rhetoric with Hitler!!! If am not mistaken, I did explain, in
that particular post, that, OBVIOUSLY, one cannot compare Obama with
Hitler - - but I was referring more to the power of certain speakers.
Hitler also spoke of hope - - you did not mention that - Germany was in
a very bad economic state, unemployment was enormous,etc.etc. and he
addressed those issues in his fiery speeches. BUT, of course, to add
oil to the fire, he then got down on the Jews, the Catholics, the
Gypsies (I am not kidding!) etc., and sank into the hateful role he
assumed, after having mesmeried his audiences. And, yes, I did hear
some of his abominable speeches; I was there, though quite young. He
appealed to the very worst in people - - people, who, at that time were
quite needy and very poor. Obviously, Obama is on a totally different
level in his speeches; however, I was merely thinking of the "danger'
(at times) of inflammatory speakers. It seems they are able - some of
them - to practically paralyze the thinking processes of their
audience!!
So - please - don't be silly and take my mention of Hitler seriously.
Obama is a fine young man - but he is far too much to the Left for me,
and does have stars in his eyes - but I would seriously worry what would
happen to our country , were he elected. In that respect, I do feel
that Hillary is wiser, but my gut feeling tells me she will lose. As
Rita pointed out, her behavior - when speaking - has been unpredicable
, and that does not exude a sense of mature intelligence.

Thank you for clarifying your position on that, Olly.

I wouldn't characterize Obama's speeches as inflammatory. They are, as he claims, a message of hope. You might feel that he is naive in expressing hope, but where would we be without hope? Right now, I think that we need someone to inspire us and none of the other candidates offer that as far as I can see.

Will he succeed? I honestly don't know. The challenges are enormous. He seems to be pretty careful to talk about what "we" can accomplish and that is in stark contrast to Hillary who seems to focus on what she wants to accomplish. This is why I am looking so carefully at who Obama surrounds himself with. We really are voting for more than a single individual, IMV.
