I have most of the right-wingers killfiled by now. I've come
to think that the reason they love "rules" so much is because
they need something to serve as a guide to living, but they
don't have any compassion or empathy for other people to
speak of, so rules are the only substitute they have to latch
onto.
This discussion group is the only place I run into right-wingers
that I know of, unless they act so differently in person than
they do in their writing that I can't recognize them by talking
with them. I do occasionally run into people who say things
such as I read here, but very rarely, and when I do it's a very
short acquaintance, by my choice and maybe by theirs also.
I should have added that one arguable implication of the
above is that political affiliation is quite possibly "genetic",
and people are "liberal" or "conservative" for the most part
because of the way they're wired, not because of any study
or any conviction that came about by "learning" (as opposed
to "reinforcement by reading things that, and talking with
people who, agree with what one already thinks").
