Which tells us what? That the people are fickle? That the people who were
screaming just a few weeks/months ago about wanting us out, really did not
think that getting out was all that important?

Now that things seem to be more under control I can see less reason to
be in a hurry about getting out. Doesn't mean that in retrospect I
believe going in was a good idea. It also doesn't mean that I am any
less pessimistic about the ability of Arab Muslims to accept
democracy. However, sticking around avoids an immediate collapse, and
increases the possibility that in time a de facto partition of Iraq
can be worked out with a minimum of bloodshed.

Rational response. But it seems to me that "if" you believed that we should have gotten out, you believed that because you did not think that success was all that important, or because as many on the left have been telling us, it was an effort that we should not have even started, and because we should not have been there in the first place, we should not be there now.
