Re: Jobless claims soar to highest level in over 2 years.

What was the unemployment rate? You conveniently left that part out of your posting.

US weekly jobless claims up 69,000 to 375,000, highest level in over
two years

WASHINGTON (Thomson Financial) -

The number of people filing new claims for unemployment insurance
jumped in the latest week to its highest level in more than two years,
the Labor Department said today.

The number of first-time claims filed in the week ending January 26
rose, on a seasonally adjusted basis, by 69,000 to 375,000.

That's well above the 318,000 claims economists polled by Thomson's
IFR Markets had expected, and the highest level since October 2005.

The 69,000 increase was the largest weekly increase seen since
September 2005.
