Re: Temporary Internet Files

I guess tha tmeans that I did not know that Explorer always had that ability....I wonder why Microsoft never told me that, since I have contacted them about the problem in the past...

A number of years ago, my computer started getting slower and slower. I
later found out that a cause of the slowup, was the number of Temporary
Internet Files that are automatically loaded onto your hard drive. Over
time, they consume a larger and larger part of your hard drive. Back then,
I found a way to get rid of these files by doing a search for these files,
then deleting as many as the computer would allow me to delete (some files
the computer would not allow me to delete as I recall, but there were not
that many of them, so it was no big problem). But with this new computer
with the Vista Operating System, I could not longer do that. Well, today, I
found out you can do the same thing, by going into the Microsoft Internet
program itself. In the program, they have made it easy to get rid of these
files, as well as the cookies that are being constantly loaded onto your
hard drive. Just go to the Tools drop down menu...

I have always deleted both Temporary Internet file and cookies from
Internet Explorer and I 've done it with more than one version of
Windows. So far as I know, this has always been possible and certainly
always recommended in articles on how to speed up your computer.
I did it with Windows 95, Windows Me and now with Windows XP.

I rarely use Internet Explorer anymore, rather I use Firefox. It is
possible to delete all stored content with that browser as well.
