I caught a bit of Newt Gingrich this AM, on a religious channel as
I was flipping through. He's a powerful speaker. Many people
would follow him all the way to hell. One thing he said was that
90% of Americans are Christians, so this is in fact a "Christian"
nation. My thought was that institutionalizing Christianity in the
US would be a big step on the road to a Christian theocracy. Many
people think that a Christian theocracy would be better than an
Islamic theocracy, but "theocracy" is the noun, and "Christian"
or "Islamic" are just the adjectives. Another thing he went on
about is that we should "win" our wars, that people on Capitol Hill
just don't want to "win". I was waiting with bated breath for him
to mention nukes, but he didn't go that far. The only reason he
didn't go that far, in my opinion, is that he knows he doesn't have
enough power or have the people behind him enough to suggest
it as a way to win an otherwise lost war ... yet.
Thank the stars, IMV, that he's not ever going to get the kind
of power he would need.
