through your nose! This leads to thousands of people getting food
caught in the tube leading to the lungs and dying from asphixiation!

Actually a very sophisticated design that allows breathing through the
mouth if the nose is constricted by injury, illness, or allergy.
That's called redundancy, and being a hayfever sufferer, it's the
reason I'm alive.

They both tend to constrict up if one is injured!

Try getting a broken nose, or a bad case of Rhinitis, and see if you
can resist the urge to tape your mouth closed. My guess is that you
won't head for the tape. Of course an injury could constrict both
airways. That's why we have tracheotomies -- and coffins. If evolution
had only let us breathe through our ears .... but it didn't. I'm a
great believer in evolution, and I'm sure if ear breathing was all
that important Mother Nature could have handled the job.

Only thing that keeps no breathing system open is singular! Otherwsie
both block up!

Check out the video of "Emperor Penguin, Swimming Below Ice". Note the
importance of wings as virtually the sole means of propulsion. (-8http://www.oceanfootage.com/stockfootage/Penguin
