PEGGY NOONAN
American Grit
We can't fire the president right now, so we're waiting it out.

Most people are not waiting it out, they are simply ignoring this
government because they are sick and tired of being represented by a bunch
of crooks, reprobates, liars and incompetent jerks. The reason the
President's job approval is so low is because he REPRESENTS THIS
GOVERNMENT. Funny thing, isn't it, that the congress approval is even less.
3 guesses as to why.

Good article and good observation.
Where do these government yokels come from? What is it
with the system that comes up with them?

Amazing, isn't it, how the U.S. has muddled through? I'm
reading a book about the McCarthy era in the mid-1950s and
people made the same observations then. I think they have
said the same thing in all eras. There is certainly room for
some cynicsm that politicans are not choir members, but saints
are not elected to Congress or to the presidency.

Just observe the scene and realize the perfection you seek is
not possible. Support those you basically agree with and work
against those you don't. Which is a hell of a lot more practical
than simply bemoaning the fact that humans are humans whether in
private life or as members of governments.

I reluctantly voted for Bush the first time as a vote against the
bjclinton cultural deterioration, the second time cause I couldn't
stand the unmarked ballot. They are both culture destroyers.

(Comment : JC seems worth reading.)
