Try "SeaMonkey" (present ver. is 1.1.1), the Mozilla.org variant
upgrade to Firefox and Thunderbird - in several (subtle but
nonetheless real) ways better (including notably faster to load) than
prior versions.*
Also, for the purposes of deciding whether one wants to get beyond the
"toe in the water" or fully commit, it can be installed in its own
directory and co-exist with either/both Thunderbird or Firefox on the
same machine.
Roses to Mozilla for a(n even) great(er) job!

I downloaded 8.1 only to find that mail was either not
supported or was impossibly difficult to implement for my
own ISP. Sorry, Netscape, but I don't have the time to figure
it all out.
So, I downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird, both based on
the same original Mozilla code and close enough to what I grew
accustomed to in Netscape that there is no new learning curve
for the new software. Both are free. Both automatically moved
all my files including bookmarks and archived mail for me with no
problems. The only things that I have found that were not
moved were my usenet history file and filters.
So, now I have a nicely integrated browser and mail system
(including usenet) that appears to be working flawlessly.
Roses to Mozilla for a great job!
