Is there any excuse at all for anybody not in combat or not a
policeman to possess a firearm that will fire 80 to 100 rounds in
such a short time ? IMO, there is none.
That's not a very rapid rate of fire. If "several minutes" is, say, five
minutes, and 100 rounds are fired, that's one round every 3 seconds. That
could be a bolt-action rifle, but more realistically it was some sort of
semi-automatic which obviously could fire more than one round every three
seconds.
What do you mean by "excuse"? Ownership of firearms is a Constitutional
right. You have the right to vote, do you need an "excuse" to do so?
