The US is having a whole lot of trouble pacifying the countries of Iraq and Afghanistan. Some are saying you cannot pacify these countries. Iraq has a population of around 25 million. Afghanistan has a population of around 15 million.
"If" you cannot pacify countries with less than one fourth of the population of the United States, how can you hope to pacify a country like China? And "if" you cannot pacify a country like China, then it stands to reason you should not go to war with China, since in the end you have no hope of winning. Which then raises the question, what is the US going to do "if" China decides to expand their influence through the use of their military? Does the US have any chance of winning such a war with China?
