I share your opinion about the Congress, but I still wonder just what in blazes is going on in the Arab world. It's easy to understand people like Bashar Assad of Syria and Almadenjihad of Iran who are mortal enemies of the West and acknowledge that fact clearly and forthrightly, but what's going on in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, and the rest. The silence is deafening.

Fred, Islam isn't silent. You just have to listen. Islam is the only
major religion that teaches that an acceptable way to deal with those
whose religious or political beliefs differ from yours, is to kill
them. Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddhist -- adopt Islam, or die.
Secularist, agnostic, atheist, conservative or liberal -- adopt Islam
or die. Islam isn't just a religion, it's the complete package of
government and morality, all rolled into one, and if you question
that, even if you pray to Allah five times a day, you are a Kafir.
Naturally, not every Muslim is so extreme, but a large percentage are,
and those who aren't are not about to argue with those who are --
because they can't be reasoned with, convinced, persuaded, cajoled, or
otherwise won over. That is the enemy -- not "terrorism", and we may
as well face up to it. It's Islam. The West has been fighting those
bastards for a thousand years and will be fighting them long after you
and I and JS are gone.

Well, that's largely a well thought-out and clearly expressed exposition on the Muslims and terrorism, but terrorism per se isn't what js and I were talking about, except peripherally. The Congress and the governments of many Arab nations are playing footsie with an issue which is of extreme interest to the citizens of their countries and ours. What the unambiguous message from the West to the Arabs should be is: Either declare religious war on us and stand by for the consequences or get your fanatical Islamo-Fascists under control. Almadenjihad and Assad seem to understand that and are playing fair; the rest of them are ***-footing around like burglars in the night, hoping no one notices their presence and intent.

I could care less if the Arabs want to live under Sharia law in their own countries; I will fight to the death to prevent them (or the Southern Baptists, or the Catholics, or the Lutherans, or the Seventh Day Adventists, or the Mormons, or anyone else) from imposing their theocratic principles on me and mine.

In a typical naive Western way, all I'm looking for is a clear picture of who the bad guys are and who the good guys are. It's the responsibility of our government and their governments to make that distinction possible.
