made in Afghanistan to leave his capture to unreliable Afghanis and
allow him to get away. Unless you can show me they were, you are

All that story says is that the U.S. attempted to get
cooperation in turning over Bin Laden. And that this attempt
was ultimately unsuccessful. Bin Laden was cornered in Afghanistan
during the war but escaped. The U.S. had not had its troops go
after him but relied on Afghani tribal forces.

And I posted an article retelling the 1998 interactions that explains
how the Clinton White house did exactly what you say they didn't do.

Easthman left it to the Afghani's to get rid of Bin Laden. They
didn't. And we had 9/11 soon after.

js, you and Rita are talking about two different time periods.

You can read about what Rita is talking about in the book "Jawbreaker" by
Gary Berntsen. He was the #1 CIA operative on the ground in Afgh. during
the invasion by US troops. They had OBL surrounded at Tora Bora (or Bora
Bora) with the Delta force ready to go in and get him. According to
Berntsen, he received orders from the highest levels in government to
withdraw the Delta force to send them to Iraq. This left the capture of OBL
to the Afghan war lords. Berntsen pleaded with Washington to not do this as
OBL had strong influence with the war lords and would escape.

The rest is history.
