aids are very expensive. An even greater problem is those who are in
denial that they need them.

I think she is saying that many don't use hearing aids who could
benefit from them. But the high cost is certainly an obstacle for
many. Eyeglasses are cheap in comparison -- hearing aids cost
into the hundreds and thousands of dollars. My Medicare HMO
does cover a pair of glasses every two years if my prescription
changes. Not so, hearing aids.


Somebody posted here that hearing aids are very cheap in
Mexico, and just as good, imported from China - a tenth of
what they cost in America or something around that ratio. My
mom gave up on hearing aids because they were so
expensive, and she was never satisfied enough with what
she got to make her think they were worth the money.

If I ever have to move within the US, I want to move
close enough to Mexico to be able to hop over and buy
stuff when I need it.
