I was thinking about the current news about the Israeli "incursion"
into
Lebanon. It occurs to me, that this is an example of what happens
when
the
world organization called the United Nations, fails to do their job.
Countries will tend to do what is in their own best interest, if the
world
organization cannot or will not resolve the problem effectively.....

Do you think the US vetoing every resolution against Israel might have
something to do with it?

No. I think Israel will continued to do what they are doing regardless
of
whether there is a resolution or not, if they feel that the nations
security
is more important.

So why do the US bother to undermine the UN over Israel then?

Because they think "their" interest is best served by supporting Israel.

What "US" interests are being served by supporting Israel?
It only serves the interest of politicians in your government that are
zionists and more loyal to Israel than your own country. Americans have
to pay $$$ for that, and incur the wrath of the injustices committed by
Israel's.
US interests would be far better served by NOT supporting Israel.

The UN just passed a resolution on North Korea, telling
them what bad boys they are and if they do not fall into line, they will
be
punished. What do you think the odds are that North Korea will now
abandon
their nuclear ambitions? Do you for a second believe that Iran is likely
to
abandon their nuclear ambitions, even if the UN passes a resolution
telling
them what bad boys they are? If Syria and/or Iran join the battle and
fight
the Israeli's, what do you suppose the UN is going to do...pass another
resolution saying what bad boys all of you are?

So what you are saying is that
A) There is no point in having a UN, international law or the Geneva
convention.

Well, you asked the sixty four thousand dollar question...what good is the
UN?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5186474.stm

Has it stopped countries from fighting with each other?

I gather it frequently has.

Has it really
solved the worlds problems? As for things like international laws or the
Geneva Convention, they are all good ideas, "IF" they were actually legally
binding to all countries in the world, there were applied fairly to all
countries in the world, they were enforced fairly to all countries in the
world....but that simple fact is, that is not what is happening. Therefore,
while they are nice documents, they are not worth the paper they are printed
on.

Not if even the western members undermine them (largely because of
zionist pressures).

B) The old League of nations (Now UN) had no business establishing an
immigrant colony against the will of the inhabitants of the region and
declaring it a country.

What has that got to do with the price of beans?

See other post.
