Rich Lowry, Buckley's protege, is not always terribly bright. But he
got
this one right.

"...On a $1 head of lettuce, the farm worker gets about 6 or 7 cents,
roughly 1/15th of the retail price. Even a big run-up in the cost of
labor can't hit the consumer very hard...."

So why shouldn't we Americans pay an extra 2 cents per head for lettuce
and demand better paying jobs for Americans ? The same would apply to
fast food. Increase the cost of labor by 25% and the cost of a meal
shouldn't go up more than 15 or 20 cents. I'd gladly pay that to see
American citizens making a livable income and to see Jose heading back
to Mexico.

Make the minimum wage 20 bucks and hour and the Mexicans would have to
fight their way into America.

Please take a look at these pictures.

There are an estimated 44,000 more locations just like these in the state
of Texas alone, and over 2,000,000 in the US according to the US Census.
There is no way they can comply with the NAIS. Doesn't anyone care what
will
happen to these people when the NAIS is fully implemented?
