Well, that was short. The accursed reinstall disk won't even
reinstall. It says it can't find a hard drive on my system, yet
when I boot normally, the hard drive is there. I'm going to
sleep on it and see if I can face yet another trip through the
automated menu system for tech support. I've just about had
it fiddling with this though. I think I'll just get a new computer.
Costco is selling HP's now at good prices, and I don't have to
buy stuff I don't want with it, such as a new monitor or new
speakers. (My speakers are fine - I tried them out on a
portable radio.) Maybe I should try a new sound card, but
I'm not sure if I have enough patience left.
Damned computers. Damned Windows.
