Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about that. Unfortunately, it doesn't
solve the problem of tapering, since I'd still have the problem
of making the tapering symmetrical all around. Now maybe
if it came with an altimeter control system ...

With anything that has a purpose, ie a proper function, like a comb, it's much more difficult to classify it merely as jewellery, and I don't think the school would or should do so, unless of course it's studded with unnecessary sparkly bits and eight times the size its needs to be to function as a comb. ...
