I don't understand why she is trying to see the President
in Crawford. Monday he was in New Mexico and today he is
in Illinois. I know from the fence to the road is state
owned land just like from the sidewalk to the curb in
front of my house belongs to the city. I'm not sure what I
would do if someone squatted on that city owned property.
I think the land from the curb to the sidewalk in front of
my house belongs to me.
In the sense that it belongs to the public? Why use two
different meanings of the word "belong" in your response?
I bought and paid for it. It doesn't belong to the public, like my house, it is mine alone.
Just a point in Texas property boundaries.
It is typical for a road to be only about 1/2 the size of the actual boundaries assigned to the land.
The fence is placed on the boundary and the land from the fence to the paved road is owned by the county but is usually maintained by both the landowner and the County Commissioner coming along every blue moon to redig the ditch and mow the weeds.
So she is camping on public property (which is not permitted except in designated areas). The alternative is that she is actually trespassing on the ranch.
As for your city lot.
Check out your deed carefully. Most communities have the front 5 to 10 feet either belonging to the city, or (no maintence worries for city) the city has an unrestricted easement or rightofway to the property.(water pipes and meters). At the back there is also a 5 - 10 foot easement granted to the city/electric company. (sewer repairs, cutting trees threatening electric lines). There is often a 5 ft easement on either side for fire safety/access.
You actually own a lot less than you think.
I am under the impression that an easement is the right of a *no owner* to use my land for a designated purpose. (utility company to work on their line) That would say that I own the land, but they have the right to come onto my land.
