That we live in a 10 dimensional world, if you like one of the various
flavours of string theory, or 11 if you like the theory that unifies
them all. That universes come in near endless forms. That gravity
is weak because it can leak out of our universe into other universes.
That elementary particles are not points but very much tinier strings
of vibrating energy. That all particles and forces in the universe are
simply these same strings in different vibrational modes. That when
energy is pumped into a string it gets bigger, or more wrapped. According
to some theories that all strings are loops, in others that strings are
either loops or connected to what are referred to as brains or membranes.
I am not sure if it predicted the spin-2 gravitron particle but a major
surprise was that the equations of string theory indicate the existance
of such a force carrying particle, considered to be the best explanation
for how the force of gravity is transmitted. It predicts that some strings
as consequence of the early inflation of the universe might be huge, and
that it may have been the gravitational force of these huge strings that
helped galaxies form. It makes quite a few predictions but none of them
are yet testable. It is hoped that CERN might be able to test at very
small distances whether more than 3 dimensions might exist. That would
manifest itself as energy vanishing. The theory is more advanced than
loop gravity which is an alternative theory, but loop gravity theory
does not start out by presuming the existance of space and time. Instead
it tries to derive both space and time from the theory. That seems
extraordinarily brave to me.
