I personally find it very hard to sleep with myself if I know I've
done the wrong thing (particularly against people) - especially if I
know I did it intentionally and enjoyed doing so. It keeps going
around and around in my mind that I've done something horrible etc
etc etc - and thereby I've found the 'will I sleep at night' measure
a great moral compass to navigate by.
As such, I'll continue to point out that David owes me answers to 8
questions, but try to avoid being actively 'mean' about it - there's
no need IMHO
I wonder if psychologically there are two strategies to boosting ones
ego. The first involves liking the self for what one is. The second
pays little attention to the self but works on reducing the ego's of
others so that ones own by contrast seems boosted. I have never
understood at all the pleasure some seem to derive from turning
beautiful animals into dead meat. I can only imagine that the power
to hurt and not to be hurt oneself by the having hurt is deemed
strength, where I myself would deem it sick.
I had started to write "I have intentionally caused the death of 6 living
animals. Each death was (IMHO) done out of mercy and therefore a form of
euthanasia, and there was no joy in any of them, just sadness", but I
realised that wasn't 100% true. I have intentionally killed a large number
of insects in my life (roaches, flies, mozzies etc) and a small number of
molluscs and crustacea and felt no sadness or regret at all.
Probably bigotted but I don't find the type of animals you've intentionally
killed beautiful.
