doesn't tell us how to apply her pesher method, it simply claims that
'when x is said, it means y'
Hence, my previous questions:
When Thiering says "It has been shown that "Star" refers to the Star of
David. When the Star led the Wise Men to the place where Jesus was born, it
was Joseph, his father, a descendant of the Davids, escorting the Magians
(magoi). ", *where* has it been shown?
When Thiering says "The term Virgin means a nun, as has been shown. "
*where* does it say Virgin means nun?
When Thiering says "Correspondingly, "Hades" was also a place. When the Rich
Man found himself in Hades in the parable of Luke 16:19-31, he was in the
lower part of the cave at the end of the Qumran esplanade that was used as a
sabbath latrine" *why* does she conclude it was the lower part of the cave
at the end of the Qumran esplanade?
How did she come to this knowledge? What was her thought processes? Given
the same set of evidence to come to her conclusions, would another person
with similar skills and knowledge as her (a peer) also come to this
conclusion?
Can she set out her pesher method so that anyone with similar knowledge and
skills can then apply said rules to any part of the New Testament and find
something new? More to the point, can two people using her pesher method
indepentally find the same meaning in a part of the New Testament that
Thiering hasn't yet 'peshered'?
All these problems, I believe, are attributable to the website. In her
books, intended to be read (more or less) from cover to cover, "as has
been seen" isn't a problem.
Again, I don't buy it. I have looked over copies of a couple
of her books, and they are no different than the website.
Conclusions with no explanations as to how they were derived.
Rules that don't lead to the same conclusions.
I'm sorry I can't help you with these references, but
I will answer the questions that you cannot answer. :)
When Thiering says "It has been shown that "Star" refers to
the Star of David ... *where* has it been shown?
Nowhere. Thiering has never offered a scrap of evidence that
that Star of bethleham refers to the Star of David. She just
made it up, being ignorant of the fact that no such symbol
existed when her supposed peserist was supposedly hiding that
in the DSS or Bible.
When Thiering says "The term Virgin means a nun, as has been shown. "
*where* does it say Virgin means nun?
Again, nowhere. Again, she just made it up out of whole cloth.
When Thiering says "Correspondingly, "Hades" was also a place.
When the Rich Man found himself in Hades in the parable of Luke
16:19-31, he was in the lower part of the cave at the end of
the Qumran esplanade that was used as a sabbath latrine" *why*
does she conclude it was the lower part of the cave at the end
of the Qumran esplanade?
This one she may not have made up. She does appear to have access
to archeological research, and sometimes bases her assertions loosly
on the findings of others (always showing that they all got it
wrong, of course).
How did she come to this knowledge?
She makes things up, claims that she showed them elsewhere,
and hopes that nobody will notice.
What was her thought processes?
Megalomania, Delusions of Grandeur, Superiority Complex.
A key component of her work is the idea that she and only
she has discovered these hidden meanings.
Given the same set of evidence to come to her conclusions,
would another person with similar skills and knowledge
as her (a peer) also come to this conclusion?
When pigs fly.
Can she set out her pesher method so that anyone with similar
knowledge and skills can then apply said rules to any part of
the New Testament and find something new?
No problem! Using her method (making things up and pretending
that you decoded them with a secret pesher meaning) all manner
of new things can be discovered! You can even get pesher
meanings out of _Mary had a Little Labmb_!
More to the point, can two people using her pesher method
indepentally find the same meaning in a part of the New
Testament that Thiering hasn't yet 'peshered'?
Not a chance. Even if she has, not a chance. The fact
of the matter is that she made up the bit about luke giving
Jesus' birth date, she made up the bit about the start of
david, and she made up all the rest.
If it weren't for the Dead Sea Scrolls, I doubt Thiering
(or anybody) would ever have discovered the pesher
There is zero evidence that Thiering discovered any pesher
in the DSS or the Bible. And you [Marshall] know it,
having looked for and failed to find any such evidence.
