You could even impress the natives with your Linux powers and try
something like this:

$ lynx nntp nntp.aioe.org/"<C2E91B32.786%qspirit@xxxxxxxxxxx>"

(that article is still there at the moment).

I do still use lynx occasionally, but to add to my problems at the moment I
am having problems with a broadband connection that is not even as fast as
a very slow 'dial-up'.

If it's ADSL, get the telephone company to check the line - from both ends
if necessary - once you're sure it isn't your own equipment or ISP that is
at fault. I got a much more reliable connection when I changed to a
different make of modem/router (now using a ZyXEL, previously a Belkin).

If you're using a WiFi connection between your computer and router, make
sure that isn't the problem. Interference from neighbours' wireless stuff
or cordless phones, kitchen equipment, walls and floors, and even
furniture, can make the signal very weak or erratic. (I once moved
someone's wireless router from under the dresser to on top and it went
from 'often useless' to 'hardly ever a problem').

I'll be lucky if this sends.

It got this far :))

It does, in the
meantime, give me time to write more considered replies.
