The thing about the bible is that you can argue it all day, and at the end of the day, what have you accomplished? I know that there are people out there who believe in the inerrancy of scripture, and I know that such people almost never want to enter into any type of honest dialogue with another person... they already have their "truth" sewn up, printed, and packaged in leather. Arguing about the bible is almost as bad as believing that the bible is inerrant... in my opinion.
fare thee well in christ,

There were all the letters written by the Disciples & Apostles in the 1st
century as Bible Historians and Scholars agree, as they were copied and sent
to all the other churches.
Peter refers to Paul's writings as being part of 'Scripture' also.
2 Peter 3:15 "Even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom
given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which
are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and
unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own
destruction."
HTH.
Jeff... "16 Take heed unto thyself, and the doctrines; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." 1 Tim 4:16 (KJV)
I'd humbly suggest that you avoid talking about Bible Historians and Scholars in one breath, and quoting 2 Peter and 1 Timothy in the next. Especially since your basic message is one of absolute authority of Scripture. I'm not trying to enter into a debate on the authorship question of any epistles - something we'll certainly disagree on to no one's betterment, as that subject has been done to death.
I merely wanted to point out that the near consensus of Historians and Scholars on these two epistles is that they are pseudonymous. That is particularly true of 2 Peter, in which case the modern scholarly consensus appears to be almost unanimous. Of course, the degree of consensus in scholarly opinion doesn't imply spiritual truth. On the other hand, you were the one who mentioned scholars!
"Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:"
II Peter 1:1
"Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope:"
I Timothy 1:1
It seems in this case your overall message depends entirely on the consensus of Historians and Scholars being very wrong. Fair enough to say that scholars and historians simply have it wrong (but then perhaps you shouldn't mention them???) On the other hand, assuming these epistles are pseudonymous for the sake of argument, IMO this would not much alter their value for those seeking spiritual truth.
with respect,
Scott
