Mark of Cain question

I'm trying better to understand and learn about the LDS church but
can't find anyone that can help me with these question as they concern
the "mark of cain." First off, as I understand it, dark skin means you
were not a good spirit. That is why people of color could not hold the
priesthood. Then the mark was lifted in 1978.

So the questions I have are first, does that release the people of
color before that time from the mark?

Second, why are there still colored people today.

Lastly, how did the mark of Cain get past the flood?
