Agreed! Store what you eat, and eat what you store. That is the secret to
useable and sustainable food storage.
And that principle is even more important with a 72 hour emergency kit. When you
actually need to eat the food in your emergency kit you will likely be under
plenty stress, and you will not need the added stress of food that you are not
interested in eating. This is especially true for children, who will need
'comfort' food to help them eat.
And while powdered milk does have its place in food storage, I would rather take
a calcium supplement tablet than choke a glass of it down! Well, I might be able
to handle a little bit in a bowl of oatmeal...
