Well,(at the risk of resurrecting the old anti charge about the
distinction between Bethlehem and Jerusalem) the OBLDS part might have
to do with the BoM saying that he was born in the land of Jerusalem.
Bethlehem of Judea fits that description much better than does any
place in Galilee. It is so close to Jerusalem that anyone from any
distance away would think of them as part of the same area. Not so
likely to be true of anywhere in Galilee.
Also, remember why Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, for the
census/taxing they were returning to their ancestral home since Joseph
was of the lineage of David. Bethlehem of Judea fits that, Galilee
does not.
In my opinion, the Bethlehem near Jerusalem fits, the one in Galilee
does not.
