There are a multitude of explanations. New ones are not needed but
here, just for laughs, is one I think is new: They are an abbreviated
isnad - the first letter in the name of the narrator.

28:3
the word used here is nabaee which means news, is this word related to
the word nabi which means prophet?

Yes, it is from the same root. The root meaning of the root seems to
be "deliver a message". That makes "nabi" more or less a synonym of
"rasul" which makes sense. It is possible that use of "nabi" to mean
prophet is a borrowing from Hebrew.

li qoummin youmenoon, does that mean that the following story is for
people who already believe so they might correct mistakes in their accoun=
t?

That's reading too much into the phrase. All it means is that the
audience are believers.

28:4
ina firown ala, is there any relationship between ala and allah, one
beings with aien and the other beings with alif?

Possible but very dubious. To connect the roots you have to make
unusual assumptions about internal change and cross-dialect
borrowing.

shia'enn. is this where the sect shia got their name from? so basically
shia means sect?

Shi'a means a group of people in opposition to another group - as in
political parties

you zub be hu. is the same word used for sacrificial animals on eid or is
there a softer word used in the quran elsewhere?

The root seems to mean "sacrifice". It was what the pagans did to
their false gods and it was the obvious root for Muslims to use but it
had evil connotations. In this case evil was intended.

28:5
wa nureedo. why does god need to wish? is this an incorrect translation o=
f the word?

Muhammad Ali translates "desired". "Wish" is misleading. Allah is
simply stating what his will was.

what was the religion of the people who were being oppressed by firown?
were they yahoodi?

Yes. "Jews" when writing in English.

tuzeefo, favor who were weak? does this mean that some portion was happy?=

There were others in the land besides Jews and some of them were
probably happy.

is this the reason in 28:4 weakening a group is mentioned? also if the
sons are killed then there are no heirs. in 28:5 god wants to make these
people heirs of what exactly?

You have it right. The killing of sons only happened for a brief
period obviously. Muhammad Ali explains
"By making them heirs is not meant that they would be made heirs to
Pharoah's possession, but heir to a kingdom in the promised land of
Canaan. And this refers also to the establishment of the kingdom of
Islam and its vanquishment of its persecutors." You can take that for
whatever it is worth. It should be noted that Pharaoh probably thought
of Canaan as one of his possessions.

28:6
al araz, which land were they in and which land is god refereeing to
here? were they established now in muhammand's time?

I think the "the land" here is being used idiomatically in the sense
"on earth" and not to any specific piece of real estate. There were
probably very few Jews living in Palestine during Muhammad's lifetime
but in fact the population there of Jews might have fluctuated greatly
as the rule of Palestine was passed back and forth between the Romans
and the Persians.

Gabriel and Moses are never mentioned together. But one of the
anonymous angels might have been Gabriel.

As we say in English - GOK (meaning God only knows)

The Qur'an makes no distinction. Later pious thinkers have worked out
a lot dubious details which I, for one, cannot take seriously.

i see that in this sura there are many people quoted. they did not speak
arabic. so when their words are mentioned it is a translation of what was
actually said. it must be a very close approximation to what was actually
said and also keeping the beauty of the poetic form and grammar. i saw
that when i compared the accounts of jesus with what is left in the bible
and it was similar but biblical language was quite early.

The accounts of Jesus were all written in Greek, but the society Jesus
lived and worked in spoke Aramaic. So all but a few words are
translated.
