I did not see any posting by Y. Gursey under the title "Islamic
Borrowing" posted on Jan. 4.
However, I did see a post by Y. Gursey under the title "Islamic
Borrowings" (plural) posted on Jan. 5. Here is a link to that post via

Assuming that's the post you meant, then it was very relevant to Islam,
since much of that post is a discussion about the meaning and origin of
the word "Sirat" as it appears in the Qur'an and hadith. The meaning of
a word in the Qur'an or hadith, in the context of the passage that word
appears in within the Qur'an or hadith, certainly seems to me to be
relevant to Islam.
