I reply to Hind no 8, Dec 8th
Dear Hind,
Thank you for taking the trouble to address me. I feel
that there *is* good will behind your posting. And I am aware that some
individuals have taken my postings seriously and tried to respond to
them. Others have abused me; and abuse is something I have not offered.
I do not think that my arguments have been met; I may have moved off
tangentially on receiving a reply - I do not know - but if so this has
been because I felt no useful response was possible. I am interested in
learning and being informed - about the very issues that I raise. I
challenge Islam, but receive no correction.
Why do you sneer at the "infallibility" of my arguments? I make them
as strong as I can. Either they are valid or not. If they are not, you
do me a service by showing this. If they are valid accept them, and
readjust your ideas.
I am sorry that you are bored and I don't see how you can regard my
contributions as childish. If you are bored, all you have to do is
ignore them.
What I get out of it - I enjoy analysis, but more than that I think
that it is very important that Islam should go through the process that
Christianity has been through in the last 200 years and more: the
process of facing up to a rigorous, rational critique. I would like to
do my bit in this process. I think unreformed Islam poses a great
threat to the world, as has become very evident in the last four years.
It has to become open, tolerant, and democratic and it has to cast
aside all its supremacist tendencies.
I'm quite well read in Western apologists for, or sympathisers with,
Islam.
Thank you again.
