Doug, I am not advocating any particular way to view reality. I don't know
the difference between intuition and fantasy. Even in extreme cases; what I
may view as a fancy in my mind may in fact be a parable for a reality.
I do know however that there although, as He said, "All things have I willed
for thee, and thee, too, for thine own sake."(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from
the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 260)
We are, nevertheless, limited by this decree, or admonition or revelation:
"So perfect and comprehensive is His creation that no mind nor heart,
however keen or pure, can ever grasp the nature of the most insignificant of
His creatures..."
(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 62)
Dominus vobiscum.

Hi Richard-
Quite true and yet I doubt Baha'u'llah would reveal knowledge to us and
then say we cannot understand and apply it realistically.
The quote is talking about God and we all know that we cannot know this
reality and all we can know is what the Manifestation reveals to us about
God. But what I am talking about is the reality of things on this plane
that we are supposed to independently investigate and can know.
The point is that all that we can know is relative truth but yet it is
real to us and there is a reality that we can and should know and we also
should realize that it is relative and not absolute.
I have offered all the aspects of a thing that can be known and in 25
years have not found one person who can add or subtract from this list of
the aspects of reality that we can and should know if we are to be
successful at living.

been, and will continue for ever to be, closed in the face of men."

It is also true with regard to the investigation of the rality of all
things. We are limited to what God is willing to reveal. Therefor we are
given the limitatoin as found in the quotation I posted. As you rightly
suspect, there is no contradiction.

I have been reading this thread off and on with a bit of inerest and
some curiosity. Would the following Quotation help, hinder or be
irrelevant?
"So perfect and comprehensive is His creation that no mind nor heart,
however keen or pure, can ever grasp the nature of the most
insignificant of His creatures;" (Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the
Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 62)
Richard.
Well Richard here we go again with another seemingly contradiction in
the Writings for we are told to independently investigate reality and
that we can know reality but that we cannot know the essences of things
and this quote appears to be saying we cannot know the nature of
anything.
My understanding is that when we encounter what appears to be
contradictions in the Writings it means we are not yet deep enough in
them.

doug
