Re: Baha'i marriage

In any case, I would consult with your Local Spiritual Assembly.

What gives a group of men in frocks (and I hope you don't think the word
frocks as "vulgar") the right to tell you who you can or cant marry? Do you
really like giving some people you have never meet the right to control your
life like this? You should be allowed to marry whoever you want. My
disapproval doesn't just extend to the spiritual assembly. It also extends
to any other group of men who think they have all the answers and thus a
right to control peoples life's. This includes the Vatican, jeohovas witness
and all the other groups of men in frocks.

Seon,.

Local Spiritual Assemblies are elected and they do not wear 'frocks.'
Also there are generally more women than men on most Local Spiritual
Assemblies. We are discussing the right of *parents* not Baha'i
assemblies to refuse consent to marriage. Parental consent to
marriage is something Baha'u'llah ordained, not Baha'i Assemblies.
Baha'is believe in Baha'u'llah and try to follow His commandments. If
you don't believe in Him you can do as you please.

Do you
really like giving some people you have never meet the right to control your
life like this?

Why would a Baha'i not know the members of his Local Spiritual
Assembly? Presumably he or she played a part in their election!
