I think you missed the portion of this quote that relates to
"conversion".

No, I didn't miss that portion, what I didn't see is the portion which
connects it to easing human suffering which is what you stated. The
reason Abdu'l-Baha gives for increasing the number of believers (in
Islam) is so that it will be victorious over other religions. What He
is suggesting in this context is that Muslims should place less
emphasis on jurisprudence and more emphasis on teaching. But He
doesn't connect this with easing human suffering in that passage.
Also Susan your last sentence has a smiley face symbol on it but based
on earlier posts it is very easy to interpret this as sarcasm and I do
not see any relevance of this to our discussion.
