Here is the Sura in Question.
Al Israa 17:1
[Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night

Hi Khadooj:
My interpretation of your quote from the Koran is as
valid as yours
inasmuch as neither of us has the authority to
interpret it with
assurance. I see nothing in the quote which confirms
a physical ascension. The Bible is far more graphic
and I still think that it should be interpreted
spiritually. I could be wrong, but it really does not
matter. God transported Jesus. He returned to God. I
see no essential difference to the ascension of His
Holiness Baha'u'llah, even if it was witnessed as a
physical event. Maybe His followers needed to see a
miracle.
A physical resurrection would raise too many
unanswered questions for me. To what physical world
would He be going? God has given me reason and I
prefer to use it, even when I have witnessed events
that could have been considered miracles myself. It is
my belief that Jesus ascended spiritually to the
spiritual Kingdom of God. I have some blind faith but
very little.
Now, if He is to re-appear in the same way, how would
that happen? If He comes to Israel, I will not see it
from here in Samoa, neither would most of the people
in Israel. The horizon on a plain is maybe 15 miles.
Next time you see a plane flying overhead imagine all
the people sitting in their seats. Now imagine the
plane becomes transparent. If the passengers were all
your family and friends, how many would you recognize
until they descended to within 50 feet? Would you
accept anyone who descended from the sky? How would
you know it was Jesus? Personally it would take me a
while. I would need to know what He taught of the
past, present and future and be attracted to His
teachings, the same things which attracted me to
Baha'u'llah.
God doeth whatsoever He willeth.
Bill
