Because they have eyes, and a basic amount of empathy it is natural to
feel something when people are unnecessarily suffering. Also another
part of the picture is the fact that chattel slavery as practiced in
the Americas was actually more brutal than the forms of slavery
practiced elsewhere. So the abusive nature of the institution was much
clearer.

What kind of change do you have in mind?

Again, be specific please. Which change?
Why

I think some kinds of developments are pretty clearly associated with
certain religious institutions. The Church pretty clearly was a patron
of the arts. The Jesuits pretty clearly promoted learning. Muslim
scientists were pretty clearly prompted by Islam to study the world
and pretty clearly jumpstarted the Renaissance.
But even as a Muslim I wouldn't say that Muhammad (saaws) was somehow
responsible for every scientific discovery from the decline of
Christianity to 1844.
I think you are giving the Manifestations credit for scientific and
moral advancement but with very little direct evidence of a
connection.

I don't know what kind of answer you would understand. If you study
religion you would find that there are MANY MANY different people who
come up and claim to be sent by God in one way or another.Do you
believe all of them? If not, then you too have to come up with an
explanation for how false religious leaders arise and still manage to
gain a large number of followers.
