Bill,
>>I guess that I would take the position that the intellect and the soul are similar to RAM and a CDROM.<<
However we describe them, they are, ultimately, material metaphors for
conditions which are nonmaterial.
>>I see the/a difficulty, in that while spiritual experiences can result
in physical manifestations there is no constriction that they must
manifest a physical alteration. Such as "Spiritual Healing"'<<
Whether spiritual healing is physical would presumably depend on God's
Will.
>>But why should it have to?<<
Parapsychologists can do what they want. However, if they want their
field to be regarded as a science by other scientists, they need to
demonstrate an adherence to certain rules of scientific procedure.
The problem, as James "the amazing" Randi and others have noted, is
that PSI experiences are not reliable. He and others have had standing
monetary rewards for persons who can demonstrate systematic results.
Those monies is still waiting for beneficiaries.
Without the ability to replicate results, a field of study does not
satisfy even the minimal criteria to be accepted as scientific by other
scientists.
>>That is your criteria which is perfectly ok for you; however other standards are perfectly ok for someone else, and equally valid.<<
No, it is not "my" standard. I didn't invent it.
