Susan,
The best work IMO on this question is "Baha'i Belief and Evolution" by Kevin Browne and Eberhard von Kitzing. The subject is explained through an examination of the philosophic discussion of "Species, Essence and Becoming" from Aristotle to Shaykh Ahmad Asha'i to ‘Abdu’l–Bahá and 19th century Darwinism. There is a significantly larger philosophic and scientific discursive 2000 + year old context surrounding the statements of Abdu'l-Baha than can be communicated by any particular talk.

Do we have a Persian transcript of this talk? I've always been nervous that Baha'is depend so much on Promulgation of Universal Peace in formulating their understanding of the agreement of science and religion. They are basically pilgrim's notes.
