One of the reasons our military fights is to protect our rights. One
of those rights, as guaranteed by the Constitution, is freedom of
speech and the right to assemble. Sheehan is doing something that is
both courageous and right.
Bush is cowardly, not because he won't face Sheehan, but because he
would dismantle our Constitution to protect himself and his Presidency.
He puts himself before us, which is wrong. We are all equal, and
every politician is our servant.
I have for years thought that the Presidency should be abolished
since it is the least democratic part of our government and the most
detrimental to our country; but if we are to have a President, he or
she should be for us, all of us.
FIRST AMENDMENT
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
