Re: Simple Comparison: Deaths per 10,000 troops

It is not reactionary commentary. You are distorting facts. You have
to compare apples to apples and you are simply not doing so.

If you wanted to compare the "observer" and limited engagement status
of Viet Nam to that Iraq, then you should start the Iraq chart in 1991
as the USA has been involved in Iraq since that time enforcing
sanctions and providing a no-fly zone. If you want to compare full
scale war, then compare from the point in both wars when the USA
decided, by act of Congress, to send in the full scale army. In Iraq
that was November 2002, with the Iraq War Vote, and in Viet Nam, that
was with the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.

That would be a start. If you really wanted to have an accurate
comparison, you would not look at fatalities at all, because of
differences in medicine between the two eras. Instead, you would look
at total casualties (wounded + killed) between the two wars, and divide
that up by the number of contacts with the enemy.

However, you instead deliberately take the lowest casualty point of
Viet Nam in order to cause readers to draw your conclusion about the
Iraq war - that it is worse than Viet Nam. Instead of producing an
apples to apples comparison, and let readers honestly decide the case,
you LIE when you make your charts.

As someone who is strongly supportive of science and is a science
professional, you should theoretically know better. If I look at this
work that you have done, and see that you distort facts to support your
own beliefs, you have obviously decided mentally that it is permissable
to do science backwards. That is, you make a theory and then invent
facts or arrange data to support it, and not the other way around.
Therefor, it is reasonable to believe that NO science that you make is
credible, and, even more so, that there are probably OTHER scientists
like you. Thus, the entire body of science can only be viewed with the
deepest distrust by the public. I may as well trust some kook hawking
the bible because I can't trust you.
