FYI: I believe that Illinois will reach a rather unhappy milestone
this year. 700 Lodges defunct since our Grand Lodge's inception in
1840. Of course, this number will have to be verified when our Grand
Secretary makes his report in October.
By my caluculations, 588 Consoldidated, 66 Surrendered their
Charters, 45 had their Charters Arrested, 3 Transferred to other
jurisdictions in the early days of formation,1 (Far West #5) never had
a Charter issued; and, another is unique (Sterling No. 202) as it had
its Charter "Annulled" in 1868.

Brother Torrence, maybe you can help me understand something, then. I thought that Masonry was big in Illinois. The largest Grand Lodges in the world are in England, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Illinois, and Indiana. I got this from Paul Bessel's web site.
