I realize that there can be all sorts of "examinations" and questions,
but with all that is available on the internet and elsewhere, how could
bonifides be established beyond a doubt. Also, if questions are asked
of me to establish that I am a Mason, would I have to violate my
obligations in order to answer the questions to prove I am a Mason in
good standing?

It is very easy to do. IT is done in several Internet lodges and closed
mail lists.

One I know asks for your lodge and other details they then can check
these at GL. these Internet lodges work for a particular GL not globally
and one has to be a MM already in order to join.

Then it works that you can introduce another person you know to be a
Mason.
