Case in point - Even in the American York Rite,
we are learning that the one day Festivals are not very productive. A man
sitting on the sidelines watching (or sleeping) while someone else goes
through the degree really doesn't get a whole lot out of it. So what we do,
at least here in Southeast Texas, is take the candidate through one degree
at a time.
This is what my Chapter has always done. In fact, we used to do two
sets of degrees a year so the officers were sharp. Our ritual was
always top-notch during my years in the chairs.
Chapters may now open on the Mark Degree for business, thus enabling
non HRA-Masons to attend if there isn't a degree. I wish I had that
option when I was Z.
My point was, though, David, it's the *new* Masons who don't want to
rush and don't understand why some of the leaders of the Craft (though
not in our jurisdiction) do.
