Information and advice.

For reasons I hope you all will understand I will not put full identification at the end of this posting, but regulars here probably know which region of the UK I live in.
A problem has arisen in my Lodge, an approach was made by a candidate to join our lodge and after all the usual enquiries and interviews he was accepted for initiation. Two months ago after nearly a year of waiting he was initiated and welcomed into the lodge. The new made brother works for the County Council, in a department that awards contracts within the building industry. In the spirit of openness that we had talked to him about, he at work stated that he had become a mason, shortly after this he was called into a senior manager's office and told that his membership of the Craft was a conflict of his interests with his work, as there were many mason's who are builders. The brother was told that continued membership could be detrimental to his promotion within the Council. The brother has now resigned from Masonry. He has asked that we do not pursue any complaints against the council, as being a young man with a family his job must come first. My question is, have any other lodges come across this sort of thing recently? I know from personal experience, there was a problem in the Police and magistrates a few years ago, but that was resolved. I am sorry for this long posting, but I did feel it was something I needed to share, as masonry has now lost one member who I feel would have gone on to be a valuable member of the craft.
