And we had two (or three, depending on how you look at it): a proposal
to phase out the state income tax got clobbered (70-30), and a law
decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana won handily.
Interestingly, from the maps I saw[*], both opposition to Question 1 and
support for Question 2 were spread more or less evenly across the entire
state, and there were no or nearly no districts where the majority went
against the state as a whole.
The one I'm not so sure about was a law to ban greyhound racing in the
state, which passed (after failing in a previous attempt a few years
back).
The map on this one was more interesting: support over most of the
state, and a big huge blob of opposition centered on a prominent
dog track in the south of the state.
As for the question itself, I abstained. If I voted against, I felt I'd
be supporting mistreatment of animals, not to mention the obnoxious
fearmongering ads (it'll take away all these people's jobs! what if
yours is next?!); but neither was I comfortable with applying the
Government Banhammer in this way, for a number of reasons.
I also had some nonbinding local items, which were... *special*.
